Soft and fluffy homemade garlic naan bread brushed with buttery garlic and garnished with fresh parsley. Perfect as a side for your favorite Indian dishes or as a delicious snack on its own.
In a bowl for proofing, combine half a cup of warm water, a teaspoon of sugar, and a packet of active dry yeast. Stir and let it sit for 10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
On a clean work surface, sift out 2 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour and make a well in the center.
Into the well, add half a cup of plain whole milk yogurt, a tablespoon of oil, and a pinch of salt. Then pour in the yeast mixture.
Gradually mix all the ingredients together and knead the dough for about 10 minutes until it is smooth and soft.
Cover the dough with a damp kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm place for about an hour until it doubles in size.
Once risen, uncover the dough, lightly flour your work surface, and divide the dough into 6 to 8 equal pieces.
Roll each piece into a round disk.
Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Cook each naan until bubbles start to form on the surface and the bread is puffed.
Flip the naan and cook the other side until golden brown spots appear.
Meanwhile, melt a piece of butter in a stainless steel pan and add finely chopped garlic.
