Cut the chicken into pieces and place them in a bowl.
Stir in yogurt, garlic, ginger, garam masala, paprika, turmeric, cumin, ground coriander, chili powder, salt, black pepper, and lemon juice. Mix thoroughly to coat the chicken.
Let the chicken marinate for at least one hour, or cook it right away if short on time.
Pan-fry the chicken pieces until they develop a nice color, then remove them from the pan.
Add the diced onion to the pan and sauté for a few minutes.
Pour in a little water and scrape the bottom of the pan to loosen any browned bits.
Add the same spices used for marinating, along with garlic, ginger, and tomato paste.
Crush the bay leaf slightly and add it to the pan.
