Enjoy a simple homemade French toast with whole grain bread, infused with cinnamon and vanilla, perfectly pan-fried to golden perfection. A quick and delicious breakfast favorite.
Crack two eggs into a bowl and whisk them well before adding other ingredients.
Add 1/4 cup of milk, 1 teaspoon of cane sugar, 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon, a pinch of salt, and a few drops of vanilla extract to the eggs. Mix everything thoroughly.
Heat a skillet over medium heat, about level 5 on a scale of 10.
Add 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil and half a tablespoon of butter to the pan. Let them warm for about a minute.
Quickly dip both sides of the bread slices into the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off for a few seconds.
Place the soaked bread onto the pan and cook the first side for about 1.5 to 2 minutes without moving the bread.
If unsure about the timing, lift the edge of the bread to check that it’s not burning.
Once the first side is golden to your liking, flip the bread and cook the other side for about 1.5 minutes.
Again, check by lifting the corner to prevent overcooking.
When the bread is perfectly cooked, remove it from the pan and start preparing the next slice.
